After a long ride through the jungles of Chiapas we arrived at Agua Azul. The water there is rich in minerals and coats everything with a layer of white limestone, making the water take on beautiful shades of blue.
The beginning of our hike up the mountain
We passed several large falls at the start
Nicole taking a break in the heat
The water almost glowed when seen from the shady jungle
A little church for the small community of people that live in the area
We kept finding a new waterfall at every corner
Swimming in the river is no doubt a popular activity around here
Believe it or not, we saw more waterfalls
The view looking downstream was also fantastic
We hiked back down to where we started and then hiked downstream a bit
Of course there were more waterfalls downstream
The river at this point splits into a few smaller streams snaking through the jungle. Unfortunately it was time to go, so this was as far as we got. But I have a good feeling that there were more waterfalls down there.
I'm fairly sure this is what heaven looks like
ReplyDeletePictures well worth waiting for--but do I see sandals on Nicole's feet (!!after that memorable hike on the island off Baja)? Mom
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am sooo jealous, you guys are living the dream. I can't wait to be in your shoes later on this year.

Wow! Absolutely stunning. Who would want to stop hiking with such beauty around every turn in the trail?
ReplyDeleteWow! Great photos. Just beautiful with all that water. Why didn't ya'll go swimming??
ReplyDeleteDani
The water was pretty cold... at least to me. I've got an 80 degree minimum water temperature requirement for swimming :)
DeleteJan I was wondering the very same thing.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see Aaron back on the boat. Now maybe he can install the new refrig and maybe the RO system as well!!
Have fun and stay safe
Love DAD
Fridge is installed and working great! RO system still needs to be done, but it's starting to rain enough that we can start catching water so we'll see.
DeleteNicole, as you can see parents don"t miss a thing!
