Agua Azul

By Aaron

After a long ride through the jungles of Chiapas we arrived at Agua Azul.  The water there is rich in minerals and coats everything with a layer of white limestone, making the water take on beautiful shades of blue.

DSC_2321Up we go

DSC_2341The water almost glowed when seen from the shady jungle

DSC_2359We kept finding a new waterfall at every corner

DSC_2350Swimming in the river is no doubt a popular activity around here

DSC_2360We crossed a small tributary

DSC_2327Believe it or not, we saw more waterfalls

DSC_2345And we saw little waterfalls

DSC_2375The view looking downstream was also fantastic

DSC_2390We hiked back down to where we started and then hiked downstream a bit

DSC_2393Of course there were more waterfalls downstream

DSC_2398The river at this point splits into a few smaller streams snaking through the jungle.  Unfortunately it was time to go, so this was as far as we got.  But I have a good feeling that there were more waterfalls down there.

    1. The water was pretty cold... at least to me. I've got an 80 degree minimum water temperature requirement for swimming :)

    1. Fridge is installed and working great! RO system still needs to be done, but it's starting to rain enough that we can start catching water so we'll see.
